Korean Beef Bowl

A sweet and spicy Korean BBQ-inspired dinner that comes together fast and helps use up whatever veggies you have on hand!

Ingredients

Korean Beef

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp sesame seeds 

Optional Toppings

  • rice
  • snow peas 
  • fresh cucumber
  • bell pepper
  • carrot
  • soft boiled egg

Process

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and ginger. Set aside.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, stirring constantly. 

  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Drain excess fat as needed.

  4. Add the soy sauce mixture and green onions to the beef until well combined, allowing to simmer until heated through, about 2 minutes.

  5. Serve over rice and garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. Add whichever toppings you prefer, and enjoy!
