Mains, Sides
Calling all little pizza monsters. These super cute pumpkin pizza bombs are the perfect snacktivity for Halloween movie night.
Servings: 6
Time: 1 hour
Preheat oven to 375.
Prep the dough: Unroll the pizza crust and cut into 6 equal rectangles.
Fill the pizza bombs: Add pizza sauce, mozzarella, and toppings of your choice to the center of each rectangle. Be careful not to overfill. Aim for 1-1 1/2 tablespoons of filling per pizza bomb.
Seal the dough: Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch firmly to seal. Repeat with the remaining pieces of dough.
Shape the pumpkins: Cut 4 pieces of baker’s twine, about 8 inches long each. Arrange the strands in an asterisk shape. Place a sealed pizza bomb in the center, then tie the strands around the dough to create sections that resemble a pumpkin. Tie each strand securely, then trim any excess twine.
Add the egg wash: Beat the egg and lightly brush it over the tops of the pizza bombs.
Bake: Place the pizza bombs on a baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
Finish the pumpkins: Carefully cut and remove the twine. Add a small piece of pretzel stick to the top of each pizza bomb for the stem. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
